A new casting announcement today for Guardians of the Galaxy. Over at The Hollywood Reporter, they are saying that Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, Columbiana) is in negotiations to join the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy in the female lead of Gamora. Gamora is the green-skinned humanoid alien who is the last of her species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon and happens to be a very skilled assassin. Saldana, if the deal goes through, will join Chris Pratt, who is playing Star-Lord and Dave Bautista, who is playing Drax the Destroyer in this Marvel sci-fi adventure movie. Together they are joined by Rocket Raccoon, an anthropomorphic raccoon, who is an expert marksman and master tactician, and Groot, a giant plant monster.
Personally I think Saldana will be a great fit for the character, her performance in Columbiana proves she has the chops to be an action star along with having sex appeal. Guardians of the Galaxy is set for an August 1st, 2014 release date. (Source: THR)
