Will Man of Steel 2’s Lex Luthor See A Race Change? Does It Matter?

hollywood-movie-newsSo this is obviously just a rumor, but Warner Bros. is apparently testing for the role of Lex Luthor for Man of Steel 2. According to Think McFly Think, it is not Bryan Cranston, or any other (bald) Caucasian actor. They are reporting that actors from all ethnicities are being looked at for the Superman arch-enemy.

On the list of actors was Denzel Washington, but that didn’t go anywhere. Idris Elba (Thor, Thor: The Dark World, Pacific Rim) was on the list too, but his role as Hemdall in the Thor films seems to have proven to be an issue. Another actor on the list supposedly is David Ramsey from The CW’s Arrow. But that could be an issue that causes confusion.

This certainly does not mean Lex Luthor will definitely be played by non-caucasian actor, just means that they are looking at a variety of options for the role. So race even matter when it comes to Luthor though? Personally I don’t think it does. His character is one that I think can transcend race and still remain at the core what he is all about. What do you think? (Source: ThinkMcFlyThink)
