Adam West and Burt Ward, who played Gotham’s caped crusaders Batman and Robin in the ’60s-era live-action Batman television series will reprise their roles in an all-new animated film titled Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders.
In a trailer for the forthcoming direct-to-video film, West and Ward voice animated versions of their crime-fighting alter-egos. As was common in the television series, the trailer has the dynamic duo stuck in seemingly inescapable predicament, suggesting the film will stay true to the tv series’ roots. West also make mention of some of the villains we can expect to see in Return of the Caped Crusaders including the Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman, who’ll be voiced by ’60s series alum Julie Newmar.
This isn’t the first time West and Ward have lent their voices for the role of the dynamic duo in animation. In the ’70s the pair voiced Batman and Robin in The New Adventures of Batman and West later voiced Batman in the ’80s animated television series Super Friends.
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders is set for an Oct. 11 release on Digital HD and a Nov.1 release on Blu-Ray.
