TMNT Co-Creator Peter Laird Sounds Off On Megan Fox Casting In Ninja Turtles Movie

hollywood-movie-newsMany in the TMNT fan community were not exactly thrilled when it was announced that actress Megan Fox was joining the cast of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Still no official role has been announced, however many agree it’s a safe bet she will be playing April O’Neil. TMNT co-creator Peter Laird recently voiced his thoughts on the news of Megan Fox joining the cast…

“My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two TRANSFORMERS movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) JENNIFER’S BODY. It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O’Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that’s what they want. Who knows? I can’t get myself too worked up about it.”

I am personally optimistic that she will do exactly what the role requires her to be…which is an attractive, funny, and a solid backseat role to the real stars…the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles themselves. I felt her acting in the “amazement of alien robots” in the Transformers films was pretty decent. So I can see her using that element when she meets the Turtles in the upcoming TMNT film.
