Days after the Continuum Season 1 finale, Syfy has announced the premiere date for Continuum Season 2. Unfortunately it won’t be returning until June 7th though. And, it is moving to Friday nights. Continuum, the Canadian import TV drama series about a time-traveling police officer starring Rachel Nichols (Alias, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Conan the Barbarian) as Kiera Cameron, just finished airing its first season on the Syfy channel in the US, but the series actually premiered on Canada’s Showcase channel back in May of 2012 and was later picked up by Syfy for US viewers and premiered in January 2013.
The news of not returning until June is a bit of a head scratcher to me though, because Continuum Season 2 is premiering on April 21st in Canada. So not to be premiering here for a month and half just seems a bit wrong. Especially since the other Canadian import Syfy is currently airing, Lost Girl, has been premiering the same season episodes the following day from the Canadian premiere ever since they caught up with airing the series with Season 3.
Well, it is still good to hear they are picking it up for another season, just unfortunate we have to wait a bit longer s all. Check out the extended teaser for Continuum Season 2 that Showcase is running now, along with the press release announcement from Syfy below. (Via Blastr)

THIRTEEN ALL-NEW EPISODES BEGIN AIRING FRIDAY, JUNE 7
NEW YORK – March 26, 2013 – Syfy has announced its popular time traveling police drama Continuum will return for a second season. The 13 all-new episode season will premiere in its new time period beginning Friday, June 7 at 10PM (ET/PT).
During its first season, Continuum delivered 1.35 million total viewers, 644K Adults 25-54 and 537K Adults 18-49. In its time period, the series ranked #6 in Adults 25-54 and #10 in Adults 18-49 among all cable entertainment programs with at least three telecasts (based on most current data).

Cameron is a cop from the future who finds herself trapped in the present day, swept along when a group of fanatical terrorists escaped their planned execution in 2077 by vaulting back in time.
Continuum co-stars Victor Webster (Castle, Melrose Place) as detective Carlos Fonnegra and Erik Knudsen (Jericho, Scream 4), who plays teen tech genius Alec Sadler.
Executive producers of Continuum are series creator Simon Barry (The Art of War), Pat Williams (Smallville), and Tom Rowe (Tin Man). Continuum is a Showcase original series and is produced by Reunion Pictures in association with Shaw Media.
