Supergirl is getting renewed, but the girl of steel won’t be back on CBS as The CW has picked up the second season of the superhero series starring Melissa Benoist.
The network shift teams Supergirl with The CW’s other DC superhero shows including Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash. Wanning viewship and high production costs raised concerns about the series’ future on CBS and ultimatley contributed to the move. To recude costs further, Warner Bros. will relocate filming locations of the series from Los Angeles to Vancouver, though it’s not certain what, if any, impact the location change will have on the series’ production quality.
Supergirl is expected to join The CW’s lineup this fall.
