Star Wars Sequels Gets Reunited With Writer from Original Trilogy

hollywood-movie-newsWalt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have recruited Hollywood writers Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg to write the scripts for Star Wars Episodes 8 and 9 (Michael Arndt is writing Episode 7). Many might recognize Kinberg from such films as Sherlock Holmes and the new X-Men. A real treat for fans of the original trilogy will remember Kasdan from Return of the Jedi, The Empire Strikes Back and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The writers will also serve as producers as well. Now that Michael Arndt has been announced as the screenwriter for Star Wars: Episode VII, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm are already bringing talent on board for the next two films as well.

Deadline reports that Disney and Lucasfilm have approached Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg to start work on the subsequent installments that were mapped out by George Lucas.

Kasdan worked on the scripts for two of the original “Star Wars” films, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kinberg’s credits include X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
