Spartacus’ Manu Bennett Cast as Slade Wilson on The CW’s Arrow

television-news-and-talkAnother great casting addition for The CW’s Arrow series. EW is reporting that Manu Bennett, who plays Crixus on the Starz original series Spartacus, has been cast in the role of Slade Wilson. Now, the question many will be asking, didn’t we already have someone playing Deathstroke? And the answer would be yes, but those are from scenes of Oliver Queen’s flashbacks of his time on the island. Bennett is probably going to be the regular of the show, and will become the “face” of Deathstroke as Slade Wilson. He also certainly has the physique to make Wilson/Deathstroke into a truly intimidating character.

Spartacus fan favorite Manu Bennett has been cast in a major role in The CW’s breakout superhero drama.

Bennett, best known as Sparty’s right-hand man and sometimes adversary on the Starz action series, is playing Slade Wilson on Arrow.

For fans of the Green Arrow comics, that character is a big one. In the comics, Wilson eventually becomes a major villain in the franchise — Deathstroke (whom we’ve already seen briefly in a flashback, masked, played by another actor). Like with the question of if/when Laurel Lance will become the Black Canary, sources won’t comment on whether Wilson will become Deathstroke, an insider simply said, “You’ll just have to keep watching Arrow.”

I for one have been ecstatic about the show so far. I think those behind Arrow, have done a fantastic job. And this latest casting news just continues to solidify that. (Source: EW via Enewsi)
