There has been much discussion on the fate of Pacific Rim 2 lately. Recent rumors have put the much-anticipated sequel on hold, but some glimmer of hope comes from director Guillermo del Toro. In a recent interview reported by EW, del Toro is very much optimistic his project will see the light of day. He says that, “We are still turning in a screenplay and a budget in three weeks,” and “As far as I’m concerned, it’s not gone. We’re still on it.” And on the film’s delay, that it is only temporary. “It moved further,” he says. “I may do another movie in the middle.” So whether you listen to the studio about the movie being on an indefinite hold, or del Toro’s optimism that Pacific Rim 2 will see the light of day some day, we will just have to wait and see who is the winner.
