‘Revolution’, So What Did You Think?

television-news-and-talkLast night on NBC premiered the latest creation from Eric Kripke (Supernatural), ‘Revolution‘. It stars Billy Burke (Drive Angry, The Closer (TV), Twilight Saga), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), David Lyons (The Cape (TV)) and a large cast of others (some may be familiar, others not). The premise is that one day all electricity stops working on the planet and that dependency on electricity to do so many things would be come so very clear, as the world as we know it would stop functioning.

The series then jumps forward 15 years and society has reverted back a few hundred years in progress without electricity to run things Sure it is another “post apocalyptic” story, but there is something there that is quite interesting (at least I think so). It doesn’t have a typical apocalyptic feel, but more of a drop the modern world into the 18th or 19th century feel with swords, knives and bows being popular weapons of choice.

Now there is more to this than just an “end of the world” kind of story, but something grander, [SPOILER!] as we find out at the end of the pilot when the woman turns on a computer and is conversing with another person. I hope that NBC gives ‘Revolution‘ some time to get some legs, because it has some potential to be something worth watching each week.

So what did you think? Did you watch it? You can check out the pilot episode online here at NBC.com.
