Today we are going to take a look at the latest in the Living Dead Dolls line, the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Based on the classic 1954 horror movie, the Creature is a great addition to long running horror collectible line. Now before we move forward, I should say that this is my first sampling of the Living Dead Dolls line. I have kept tabs on the line, but this was one figure that I couldn’t pass on. The Creature from the Black Lagoon is still one of my favorite movies that I remember seeing as a kid. So I’m a sucker for most things based on it.
Now for the LDD Creature figure, the sculpt is fantastic on it. It does a great job of retaining the look of the Living Dead Dolls line and capture the look and feel of the Creature. It is cast in a green plastic with paint applied to certain areas highlighting features and details.
It stands 10″ tall and has 11 points of articulation. With the exception of the hip joints, the rest are ball-jointed. With the limited articulation, you can still get some decent poses out of the figure. It would have been nice to have a mid-torso articulation point, but I think most will leave this in the box or just standing up in a display case.
It comes in the traditional window display box that Living Dead Dolls come in. This allows for collectors that don’t open things to display the figure and still show it off. The box has the Creature from the Black Lagoon logo found on all four sides. There is faded image of a realistic Creature on the sides and on the back a picture of the LDD Creature and some details about history of the famous monster.
The Living Dead Dolls: Creature from the Black Lagoon was just released at the end of July with a SRP of $31.99. It was sold out from Mezco direct, but they now seem to have a few with damaged boxes available. For those looking for one in better condition, then try online retailer BigBadToyStore here.
