First Look: MOTUC Filmation Hordak and Intergalactic Skeletor

Mattel Masters of the Universe Classics Filmation Hordak and Imp and Intergalactic Skeletor

While our reviews aren’t quite ready, we thought we’d share some quick photos unboxing the latest figures coming to Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics line; Filmation style Hordak with Imp and Intergalactic Skeletor from The New Adventures of He-Man animated series.

Our first impression is that the figures look fantastic! Hordak (based on the Filmation appearance of the character) has interchangeable arms with a switch-out mechanical hand and includes his sidekick Imp. Imp features an articulated head and arms. Note the in memoriam to Filmation founder Lou Scheimer on the front of the shipper box. Hordak is a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive and goes on sale next Tuesday, June 24 at noon EST (Monday, June 23 at 11 a.m. EST for Club Eternia subscribers via early access) on MattyCollector.com for pickup by Comic-Con attendees. If you’re not attending San Diego Comic-Con, you’ll have an opportunity to pick up Hordak after the show on August 5 (August 4 for Club Eternia subscribers) on MattyCollector.com.

Intergalacitc Skeletor is the more impressive of the two figures. The detail and paint on the sculpt look super and give the figure’s mechanical body and armor a lot of depth. There are also a lot of “deco hits” on Skeletor so it really gives the illusion that there are wires snaking through his body and integrated into his flesh. Skeletor’s helmet is removable revealing the mechanical workings on the back of his head and his futuristic havoc staff is huge. Also included with Skeletor is an alternate portrait for your Faker figure, this time with battle damage. Intergalacitc Skeletor goes on sale this August.

Would you take a close up picture of Imp from the front, nice picture btw.

    • Sure. Check back in about 30 minutes and I’ll place it into the gallery by the side-angle photo of Imp.
