Power Rangers Movie Villain Rita Repulsa Debuts New Look

Power Rangers Movie Rita RepulsaSaban Entertainment and Lionsgate revealed the new look of villain Rita Repulsa for the forthcoming Power Rangers movie.

Repulsa’s sharply pointed jade-colored armor is a drastic departure from the earth tone colored, bell-shaped gown and ornate headpiece the character wore in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers television series. The image debuted on People.com and EW.com, this morning.

Rita Repulsa, played by Elizabeth Banks joins Becky Gomez (Yellow Ranger), RJ Cyler (Blue Ranger), Ludi Lin (Black Ranger), Dacre Montgomery (Red Ranger), and Naomi Scott (Pink Ranger) as part of the Power Rangers’ cast. Power Rangers is directed by Dean Israelite. It’s scheduled for theatrical release on March 24, 2017.

  • Don’t dig the look much, but Elizabeth Banks is a great choice and I bet she’ll bring a lot of magic to the role. I’m not a huge PR fan, but I’m intrigued!

    • I think the casting of the Power Rangers team had people a little worried at first, but it seems like everything is coming together nicely and this has the potential to be a great re-telling of the Power Rangers story. While I would have liked to see a more television series accurate Rita, I’m open to a modernized version of the character because truth be told, the T.V. Rita looked like her costume was thrown together with costume remnants from other films. I’m cautiously optimistic.
