This week’s new Blu-ray releases include a mix of movie debuts, television classics and animated must-sees.
Robocop, a remake of the 1987 classic, and Lone Survivor, a true story of a Navy SEAL mission gone wrong, make their Blu-ray debuts this week. While neither was a box office standout, each should should keep you entertained for two-plus hours.
If hours of entertainment is what you’re after, you won’t want to pass up on Breaking Bad: The Complete Series. The award-winning show follows the journey of Walter White from high school chemistry teacher to drug kingpin and it’s every bit as comical as it is sublime. Where most series finales disappoint, the Breaking Bad finale was as well received as its critically acclaimed story.
Another box set that will give you plenty of bang for your entertainment buck is the Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited 1-11 Bundle. The bundle celebrate the Doctor’s 50th anniversary with a curated collection of the best stories in the Doctor Who series. It’s a whopping 1,246 minutes of Doctor Who!
Anime fans, Attack on Titan, Part 1 comes to Blu-ray this week and includes both the original Japanese language version with English subtitles and the dub featuring English-speaking voice actors. There’s also a Limited Edition set that includes a 3-D lenticular art card, a 24-page digibook full of art, character information, and 4-panel comics and 104 minutes of on-disc extras.
Finally, our guilty pleasure. If you’re a fan of retro Batman and Filmation’s animation, the Adventures of Batman is finally available on digital disc format for the first time ever. The 2-disc DVD set of the 1960’s series includes 34 episodes starring the dynamic duo and their notorious foes.
