Some pretty big news for the Gotham TV series being reported today. Deadline has learned that Netflix has signed the rights as the exclusive subscription video on demand (SVOD) for the upcoming Fox series. Netflix members will be able to watch each episode following their broadcast run. This deal applies to future seasons if the show is renewed beyond the first season.
Talks between Netflix and Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution have been taking place for months after the Gotham pilot was well received during screenings back in May. It is said that Netflix is paying about $1.75 million an episode!
Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Detective Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (aka The Penguin), Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Corey Michael Smith as Edward Nygma (aka The Riddler), Clare Foley as Ivy Pepper (aka Poison Ivy), David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, and Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman). Gotham will premiere on Monday, September 22nd at 8pm EST on Fox. (Source: Deadline)
