In 2012, Dredd arrived in theaters once again. Rebooting the franchise from the 1995 Judge Dredd film starring Sylveter Stallone, fans were leery of what to expect in this new update. Well suffice it to say, Karl Urban nailed it with his performance as Dredd.
But sadly the general going audience didn’t appreciate it. As Dredd only did $35,626,525 in combined worldwide box office take home. On a budge of $50M, things didn’t look to good for the franchise.
Since it was released on DVD/Blu-ray, Dredd has found some new life. If you haven’t seen it, then I suggest checking it out. It really is a great comic book action movie. It has kind of become a cult hit with fans since and Karl Urban and 2000 A.D. (the publisher that owns the Dredd rights) have heard the fans want for a sequel.
They are trying all they can to make that happen. On Tuesday of this past week, a video was posted with a message from Urban thanking fans and telling them to hang in there, that they are working on trying to make the sequel happen still.
