Medicom Toy Exhibition Offers First Look at Star Wars MAFEX Stormtrooper and MAFEX Batpod

The 2014 Medicom Toy Exhibition was held this weekend and on display were new MAFEX figures from The Dark Knight and Star Wars licenses.

Joining the previously announced Joker and Darth Vader figures are the Star Wars MAFEX Stormtrooper, a Dark Knight Selina Kyle Catwoman and the first vehicle in the line, the MAFEX Batpod. Interestingly, the Batman figure–a sore spot for many collectors disappointed with the loose joints of the MAFEX No. 002 release–sitting on the Batpod could be a new version as the cape appears to have a wire-articulated cape.

  • Blimey these look amazing. I really want those TDKR figures. The SW ones not at all. TDKR is one of my favourite films and I went to see it the day it came out when I completed my work experience. I might actually try to pick these up but aren’t they around £50 each? If so I’m out! Are they available in England? On a technical note when loading the Image pop up the side bar advert appears above it. I don’t know if you could do anything about it maybe layer it/ code it so it’s at the very back at the page.

    • The TDK Batman was available on Amazon US for $24 a few weeks back when I picked it up. I’m not sure if people didn’t know about MAFEX back then or what, but it’s back up to $40 now. My guess is that the’ll be $40 – $50 each depending on the character. You may want to look at the latest story we posted about the Hot Toys Bat. It’s crazy expensive, but it includes a Hot Toys 6-inch TDK Batman and a 6-inch scale Bat. Looks like everyone is getting into the 6-inch figure market.

Oh and I’m with you on the Star Wars. This MAFEX Vader looks awkward in the helmet, but the Stormtrooper could potentially be better than the S.H. Figuarts one, which I thought was the best of the group in 6-inch scale.

      • Ah really that’s quite good for £16 I will be on the look out. I will have a look at the hot toys article but like A podcast said once you start buying them you can soon lose a lot of money.

        • “once you start buying them you can soon lose a lot of money”

Trust me I know. I collect Hot Toys and sometimes a character you’re not interested in is done so well, you just can’t pass it up. This Bat, however, will be a pass for me. I just can’t justify the cost for the value.

          • I understand. I had a look at some of the Hot toys stuff and it looks quite good.
