Mattel has revealed a Thundercats Wily Kit and Wily Kat two-figure set as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, via USA Today.
The Thunderkitten twins are styled after their appearance in the ’80s Thundercats animated series and come with their preferred mode of transportation, spaceboards. The spaceboards can be displayed atop the two included translucent stands to give the effect that they twins are floating. Wily Kit is shown with a pink lasso, while Wily Kat comes with a smoke pellet. It’s uncertain if any additional accessories will be included with the pair, who are priced $60.
As both a Thundercats fan and subscriber to MattyCollector.com’s Club Third Earth, I’m concerned. Mattel’s San Diego Comic-Con exclusives will be available for pre-purchase starting June 16 for subscribers with Early Access and then opened for all-access the next day. Early Access is a benefit subscription holders receive as part of their membership, but the only subscription that qualifies for Early Access during the June order period is Club Grayskull (Masters of the Universe). This means that those of us who committed to a subscription of Mattel’s Thundercats figures could potentially miss out on purchasing the Wily Kit and Wily Kat exclusive if the set sells out in Early Access. I hope Mattel realizes this and corrects it so that those of us who have committed and already pre-paid for Club Third Earth subscriptions don’t miss out on these essential characters.
