Some unsurprising Mattel news tonight is being reported by unlikely source. Variety has announced that Warner Bros. Consumer Products has re-upped their deal with Mattel which will continue to allow them to create toys based DC Comics’ superheroes for the next several years.
The deal will include the likenesses of the characters in films, TV shows and from comic books. That includes “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” out in summer 2016, and the “Justice League” that will follow, both directed by Zack Snyder, along with Warner Bros. TV series “Arrow” and “The Flash.” It previously worked on Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and 2013′s “Man of Steel.”
As I said, this is no surprise, as Warner Bros. must be happy with what Mattel is doing, especially considering they have had a deal for the last 15 years. What I’m kind of interested in here is that Mattel will be doing product based on Arrow and The Flash. This could be something worthwhile or a total waste. Wonder if they will be part of their DC Multiverse 4″ line or something different. Guess time will tell and possibly we’ll see something at the San Diego Comic-Con next month. (Source: Variety)
