Marvel Comics Announces A New ‘Secret Wars’ Coming in 2015

comic-book-newsMarvel has announced a new Secret Wars series coming in 2015. It will be headed by writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Esad Ribic. In a report by USA Today, Marvel Senior VP of Publishing Tom Brevoort called the project Secret Wars “overwhelming huge,” and described it as the “biggest thing” Marvel has ever done. This project has been on the drawing board as far back as 2012, when Hickman took over on Avengers and New Avengers.

So far the only art we have a look at is by fan favorite Alex Ross, whom has painted an image depicting many popular and some unknown Marvel characters squaring off against each other. Notably you’ll notice that there are no X-Men of Fantastic Four partaking in this new “Secret Wars” event. Not sure if that was intentional on Marvel’s part or not. The Secret Wars series kicks off in May 2015. (Source: USA Today)
