Nintendo has officially titled the next game in its popular Zelda video game franchise The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Fans familiar with the original The Legend of Zelda game, released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, will appreciate the open-ended exploration Nintendo promises in Breath of the Wild. The game features a vast open-world Hyrule that is filled with opportunities for exploration, discovery and adventure. From fields, forests, deserts, mountains and dungeons, the Zelda fingerprint is present in the game.
This latest Zelda game doesn’t come without controversy, however. Originally announced as a title coming to the Wii U in 2016, Nintendo delayed the game in order to include it as a launch title for it forthcoming NX system in 2017. Despite the inclusion of the game as part of the NX launch lineup, Nintendo promised it wouldn’t abandon Wii U owners and like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess before it, Breath of the Wild will launch simultaneously on two Nintendo game systems: the Wii U and NX.
