Japanese toymaker Kaiyodo has released a gallery of photos highlighting the second figure in their 6-inch scale Revoltech line, the Imperial Stormtrooper from Star Wars. Kaiyodo’s Revoltech Stormtrooper is based on the character’s appearance in the Empire Strikes Back, where the original helmet and armor from A New Hope was reconditioned and slightly modified.
The Revoltech Stormtrooper features countless articulation points and one of the best range of motion we’ve seen in a 6-inch Stormtrooper figure–taking into consideration the galleries of Hasbro’s, Medicom’s and Bandai Tamashii Nations’6-inch Stormtrooper figures. While Kaiyodo’s photography exaggerates many of the poses, the fact the the figure can achieve these poses without sacrificing the figure’s aesthetic should serve as a point of reference to U.S. toymakers producing figures for collectors. Now if Kaiyodo’s Darth Vader only looked as good.
The Kaiyodo Revoltech Stormtrooper includes two sets of switch out hands (in addition to the base hands), a DLT-19 heavy blaster rifle and customary E-11 blaster rifle. The Stormtrooper is now available for pre-order in Japan for ¥5200, which is approximately $50.
