It’s Official, J.J. Abrams Will Direct ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ (We Hope!)

hollywood-movie-newsIt’s official. Director J.J Abrams will be directing Star Wars Episode VII! I think many will agree that this is THE RIGHT man for the job based off his recent work (Star Trek, Super 8).This is some surprising news, when he was asked back in November 2012 about the Star Wars job, his response implied that his involvement was unlikely.

“Look, Star Wars is one of my favorite movies of all time. I frankly feel that I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series. I was never a big Star Trek fan growing up, so for me, working on Star Trek didnt have any of that, you know, almost fatal sacrilege, and so, I am looking forward more then anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!”

So apparently he has changed his mind. Though there still is no official word on this. And like the recent Zack Snyder rumor, we can’t get to excited. The Wrap reports that Ben Affleck was also being considered. Ah Hollywood and the Internet, gotta love it. (Source: ComingSoon.net)
