I just don’t get how they keep on throwing Goblins at us, and they have yet to get it right. I really enjoyed Dafoe as an actor, even though Iron Goblin could have looked better. But, it really hasn’t gotten any better since then. This one…is just bad. I know latex masks sometimes don’t translate well onto the big screen, but, I think they could have done something different.

    • Totally agree. I don’t get why it is so hard to create something that resembles the comic version, but still looks cool.

Other franchises have been able to do exactly that. Some have been harder than others. Captain America: TWS is a good example. The Winter Soldier himself resembles the source with slight changes, and looks amazing. Yet on the other hand, Falcon is completely different, but still looks tons better. I think a big issue we are seeing is that the production teams behind the reboots are so into making things “new” and “different” to make their stories their own, that they end up with stuff like this. Same thing with Rhino, they ended up with a Zoid.

        • Not saying this is it, but the common factor in your examples of good designs is that they are Marvel Studio movies, not ones licensed by another studio. So does that have something to do with it? Possibly. It’s possible that Marvel puts more thought and care into the designs than Sony or Fox. I know I almost want to shed a tear everytime I see the Winter Soldier design, it looks incredible. A fantastic translation of comic page to big screen.
