Today’s comic books are much more than just heroes in tights and capes, they span every genre. This has allowed for many of them to be optioned for movies and television. The public is probably not even aware of the fact half of the time too. Yesterday news broke that the Image Comics series Southern Bastards was option for series on the FX Network.
The series was created by writer Jason Aaron and artist Jason Latour. It tells the story of a power struggle between the son of a former sheriff of Craw County, Alabama who returns to a hometown controlled by a local criminal and revered head coach of the powerhouse high school football team. With both crime story series Justified and Sons of Anarchy ended, Southern Bastards has hopefully found a great home on the channel. As a fan of this comic book series, I can definitely see it becoming a hit show and very much looking forward to it becoming a reality.
