Hasbro on Friday announced their 2013 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Transformers offerings. This year’s Hasbro SDCC Exclusive Transformers will pay homage to the franchise’s 29-year history. The three special-edition sets run showcase the brand’s evolution. One of the sets pays tribute to Transformers: Generation 1. The Transformers Titan Guardians Set ($39.99) includes five classic characters: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Grimlock, Starscream, and Soundwave. Considered five of the great Transformers character ever by Hasbro’s global brand marketing director for Transformers, Jerry Jivoin. The figures feature the original G1 colors and sculpts, based on the 1980s designs.
The next set available at Comic-Con is, Shockwave’s Laboratory ($49.99). Based on the popular animated series, Transformers: Prime – Beast Hunters, it features a Voyager Class version the Decepticon scientist Shockwave and his clone chamber, with a Commander Class Predaking figure. The Shockwave in this set has G1 deco and the Predaking features a translucent Energon-infused treatment.
Last, but certainly not least is a third SDCC Exclusive featuring the largest Transformer ever made, Metroplex ($149.99)! This Titan Class figure stands over two feet tall and converts from robot mode into a rolling battle platform, to an Autobot city. It also comes with a Legends Class Scamper figure and 12 miniature Autobot and Decepticon figures too. This version of Metroplex slightly differs from the retail release with a modified paint scheme; metallic coated armor, chrome foil stickers and two giant blasters. Metroplex is one of the first Transformers “Thrilling 30″ 30th Anniversary figures to be released.
