The manga series debuted in 2001, with the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime series, which closely follows the manga, debuting in 2009.

The Warner Bros. live-action movie will be directed by Fumihiko Sori and star an entirely Japanese cast. The movie will be set in Europe, following the manga / anime. The Fullmetal Alchemist live-action movie is scheduled for release in the winter of 2017.
