As far as the horror films of the ’80s go, Friday the 13th has always been at the top of my list. As cheesy as they were, what seemed as an unstoppable force in Jason Voorhees, I just couldn’t get enough of. The movie still entertain me today, and are some of my favorite horror movies to watch during the fall season as outside world begins it decent into darkness (aka Winter). So when I saw that there was a video game being made and had just launched a Kickstarter campaign, I had to share with everyone and help spread the word.
The Friday the 13th: The Game has been designed with multiplayer in mind. What this means is that one player gets to play as Jason, then a certain number of players get to play as Crystal Lake camp counselors! So as one tries to hack and slash his way through some horny teenagers, seeking revenge on those that let him drown, the other players are doing what they can to survive the night. Sounds brilliant!
Now there is a single-player mode possibility, but that depends on how successful the campaign is. They are seeking $700,000 in funding, but at the rate things are going, I don’t see that being a problem. Hopefully this is funded sooner than later and the stretch goals can be revealed and unlocked! Friday the 13th: The Game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (available through Steam). You can get a digital copy of the game starting at the $25 pledge level. So head on over to the Friday the 13th: The Game Kickstarter campaign page and check it all out!
