Fox Is Rebooting ‘Predator’ with Writer/Director Shane Black, Plus Stallone Returning for Rambo 5?

hollywood-movie-newsSome of my favorite movies growing up were Predator and the Rambo/First Blood series. Today we have some interesting news about both of these pop culture icons, which has me pretty excited to hear too.

First, according to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox is looking to reboot the Predator franchise. They are looking at Shane Black, the screenwriter behind Lethal Weapon and Monster Squad, also the writer/director of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Iron Man 3.

Apparently Black will write the treatment for the project, then will hand over scripting duties to his co-writing friend, Fred Dekker. Black will oversee the writing and it is also being reported he is attached to direct. If this turns out to be correct, it is actually kind of cool because Black was in the 1987 Predator movie, he played Hawkins.

Also, a report says that Splendid Film has bought the rights to the fifth Rambo film and says that Sylvester Stallone will be reprising the iconic role once again. According to a Google translation, they are saying:

“With ‘Rambo V’ Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of ‘No Country for Old Men.’ Like the last film, ‘Rambo V’ is produced by Avi Lerner (“The Expendables 1-3″).”

I don’t expect much from the Rambo films, but I have enjoyed them since a kid. The last outing was a lot of fun too, so I’m definitely looking forward to another go at it. (Source: THR / ComingSoon)
