I know there are some that are just not excited about a TV show based on a comic book super hero that doesn’t feature a super hero, myself included (most of the time). But one such as Gotham I think has some real potential to shine even without Batman being in it. Gotham, first announced back in September, as a series that would focus on Detective Jim Gordon of the Gotham Central Police Department. This to me has some great potential.
The latest news for the upcoming series might send a mixed message to some though. Yesterday, Comic Book Movie has discovered a casting announcement for the show. The casting call is for a young Bruce Wayne.
A 10-year-old Bruce Wayne is among the roles that are now being cast as series regulars on the upcoming Fox TV series “Gotham” which explores the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains that made Gotham City famous. Shooting on the pilot episode will get underway in March, 2014 and will center on Gotham City PD rookie homicide detective James Gordon who investigates the double murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.
No this doesn’t mean that Batman will be in the show, it most likely means they will be showing the connection of this show to the Batman universe. Based on the info that they are looking for a 10-year-old for Bruce Wayne, and the young Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins was an 80-year-old, I’m guessing that this series will take place after the events of Batman Begins if they try to tie it into the existing movies at all. Gotham is a new television series coming to FOX next year. (Source: Feature Film Casting, via CBM)
