First Trailer for the GHOST IN THE SHELL Live Action Movie Has Arrived and It Actually Looks Good!

Honestly, I was one of those people who were very apprehensive about the Hollywood doing a live-action movie based on the Ghost in the Shell anime series. We all know that they don’t have the best track record of adapting video game and animated series into live-action films. Along with the fact that it remains one of my favorite series–both anime and manga–I was not happy about this.

Well, I can say so far that most of my fears have been put at ease. Today, Paramount Pictures released the first trailer for the Ghost in the Shell movie starring Scarlett Johansson, and it looks good. It looks a lot like the anime and visually that is very important in getting this movie right. Check out the trailer below and share your thoughts with us in the comments below or on social media.

Ghost in the Shell is due in theaters March 31, 2017.

I was worried that a big-budget Hollywood special effects studio might not be able to roughly approximate the visual design of an anime, but whoa, it can, this is such a big relief to me. I hope the dialogue in the final film is even dumber and more cliched than in the trailer though.

    • Agreed, visually it looks stunning. A definite relief there. Are you being sarcastic on wanting cheesier dialogue???

You got me. The dialogue absolutely could not be more lazy and cliched than what was in that trailer, but thank goodness they were able to add some special effects and CGI. I especially love the slow motion bullet time action scenes like those found in every single Hollywood action movie, which as I recall was a really big part of the anime.

        • I have a hard time judging movies like this by their trailers. I feel that a lot of times the person cutting them has ADD or something. Like look at Rogue One, it feels like a different movie with each trailer.
