If you have a hard time swallowing the pill that Ben Affleck will don the Batsuit in Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs. Superman flick, here’s your dose of reality to help it go down. Snyder tweeted the first picture of Affleck wearing the new Batsuit, which features a fairly simplistic design emphasized by heavily outlined musculature and classic-style, multi-pouched belt. The simplistic design and monochromatic tone, in Snyder’s photo, evoke a Frank Miller comic-style essence. The new-look Batsuit is a far cry from the armored, mechanical suits seen in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, but one that we don’t expect to garner many complaints–or laughs–especially considering the existence of the “nipple Batsuit” worn by Val Kilmer in Batman Forever.
Also in the photo, albeit obstructed by Affleck, fog and creative cropping, is the new Batmobile. From what we can make of it, the Batmobile appears to be a conglomerate of styles we’ve seen in the past. The canopy has a very ’89 Keaton-era Batman flavor to it, while the chassis and tires suggest a Nolan-inspired tumbler influence giving it a good mix of functional and fashionable.
Batman Vs. Superman opens May 6, 2016.
