E3 2015: Nintendo Digital Event Showcases New First Party Games, More Amiibo Figures

Nintendo is riding a positive surge coming into the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). After disappointing sales hindered the Wii U, an onslaught of first-party games such as Super Smash Bros.,  Mario Kart 8 and Mario Party 10 spurred system sales, as did a refreshed 3DS system on the handheld front. Nintendo’s game-compatible Amiibo figures have been nothing short of stellar with many selling at twice their retail cost on the aftermarket. The latest additions to Nintendo’s game and Amiibo library look to continue that trend. Some of the highlights from the big N’s E3 media event include:

  • Announcement of Star Fox Zero for the Wii U
  • Activision will integrate Nintendo Amiibo Characters into the upcoming Skylanders SuperChargers game
  • A new collaborative Zelda game for the 3DS titled The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes
  • Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3DS
  • Metroid Prime Federation Force for the 3DS, sans Samus, where you jump into a mech suit
  • Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam for the 3DS
  • Super Mario Maker gets an official release date for September 11, 2015
  • The Wii U is getting a new Mario Tennis game titled Mario Tennis Ultra Smash
  • Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival are coming to the 3DS and Wii U, respectively and they’ll include Amiibo play
  • New Amiibo figures are coming including an 8-Bit Mario, Duck Hunt, R.O.B. the Robot, some of the Animal Crossing Crew, and Bowser and Donkey Kong figures that are cross-compatible with Skylanders SuperChargers
