The DeLorean DMC-12 will go back into production for the first time since 1982, according to the company’s CEO Stephen Wynne. Texas-based DeLorean was approved for a low-volume manufacturing provision by the U.S. federal government allowing the company to build 300 of the stainless steel beauties. Until now, the only way to own a DMC-12 was buying one used or refurbished with secondary market models selling for between $35,000-$55,000. The new DeLorean will be priced under $100,000, depending on the engine used.
The new DeLorean DMC-12’s are scheduled to roll off the production line in 2017.
