Some felt that the absence of Hawkeye in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was a glaring omission. I’m not sure I completely agree with that. Sure it would have been cool to see him in there, but I didn’t feel as though anything was missing in the movie either. Well according to an interview with Jeremy Renner, he could reprise the role in Captain America 3.
“There are rumblings of Captain America 3. I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man (laughs). I’m trying to stay home and I can’t.”
If they can make it work naturally, then I’m all for the addition, but I don’t want them to add him in for the sake of it. Don’t need it to become crowded.
In addition to the Hawkeye rumblings, directors Anthony and Joe Russo hinted that Captain America 3 could be the last film of the current Cap trilogy. With actor Chris Evans having a 6 picture deal (3 Cap films and 3 Avengers films), he would be done with the character. Now this doesn’t mean that Sebastian Stan as James “Bucky” Barnes couldn’t take over the role of Captain America, but it does sound like they could be working to close out this chapter in Cap’s life.
Anthony Russo also drop this little nugget too.
“We just got another incredible draft from the writers and are very excited about the film,” says Anthony. “I can’t divulge who is going to be in the film, but I think the fans are going to freak out when they hear about it.”
The third film will probably have the majority of Cap 2’s cast, along with what is sound like some great surprises. What do you think about this latest Captain America 3 news?
