There was some talk yesterday of Marvel and DC on a collision course at the box office. Both Marvel and DC/Warner Bros. have a movie planned for release on the same day in 2016. It is now being reported that the untitled movie Marvel announced in the May 6, 2016 slot will be Captain America 3. This is also the date that Warner Bros. decided to move the untitled Man of Steel sequel to after delays pushed it from its original date of July 17, 2015.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said that Marvel has no intention of backing down from that release date. And if Warner Bros. doesn’t budge from it either, we are going to have ourselves an old-fashioned comic book showdown on our hands. Marvel versus DC, part 2. Captain America versus Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Who will win this fight at the box office?
I know many are placing their money on Batman, but I’m all for the good old boy underdog on this one, Captain America. Especially if Captain America: The Winter Soldier does as well as it is being predicted. What do you think? Will Warner Bros. go for another release date change? (Source: THR)
