Some unfortunate, but I suppose expected Doctor Who news has been reported. Bleeding Cool has reported and confirmed, that BBC will be announcing the current Doctor Who star, Matt Smith, will be leaving the show. Smith’s last two episodes will be the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special on Saturday, November 23rd, and the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special some time in December. We will be getting a new Doctor next August in Series 8. BBC will also be announcing how many new episode the next series will have, and it won’t be a two-part season like we just had with Series 7. Word has it, it will run straight through to the finale which is also the Christmas special.
Also, the current companion to The Doctor, Jenna-Louise Coleman is supposed to be staying with the show, though it is not clear for how long though. Current executive producer and lead writer, Steven Moffat, has supposedly had his contract renewed too. Lastly, John Hurt, who was revealed to be a Doctor in the Series 7 finale, is also expected to make a few more appearances after the 50th special later this year. (Source: Bleeding Cool/BBC)
