‘Battlefield: Bad Company’ Heading to Fox As An Action Comedy?

television-news-and-talkDeadline is reporting that Fox has acquired the rights to develop a hour long action comedy based on EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company. The Battefield: Bad Company spinoff has proven to be pretty popular among gamers, so much so that the 2008 Bad Company saw a sequel in 2010 and there are talks of another Bad Company game.

Written by Eisendrath, Bad Company features the main characters from the game. It follows four renegade soldiers as they exit military life and enter the private sector. But trouble is never far behind as they realize their commanding officer had used them to further the ends of a shadow unit within the government and now wants them dead to cover his tracks. Eisendrath is executive producing with Happy Madison’s Doug Robinson and EA’s Patrick Bach and Patrick O’Brien.

If done right, this could work. I imagine something like the 2010 duo of movies, The A-Team or The Losers; where there was plenty of action, but a mix of comedy thrown in too. Again this is Fox, so who knows if this project will make it beyond a pilot episode. (Source: Deadline)
