the-killing-joke-animated-movie-announcement-featThe news surrounding the next Batman animated movie, Batman: The Killing Joke, is heating up.

This weekend at the Wizard World Comic Con in New Orleans, Batman: The Killing Joke Executive Producer Bruce Timm, who also produced Batman: The Animated Series revealed that story elements were added to The Killing Joke in order to extend its length, ensuring it fits a feature-film format.

Today, the voice of Batman in Batman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures and a number of Batman animated movies, Kevin Conroy tweeted a photo with his vocal nemesis Mark Hamill, who’s portrayed The Joker in the animated Batman universe. Conroy noted “I finally caught my favorite villain! Bats nabs Joker.” While DC Entertainment hasn’t released official word that the duo reprising their roles, all indications are that it’s happening.

According to Timm, Batman: The Killing Joke will premiere at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, which runs July 21–24.
