So if you were to take what Joss Whedon said at last night’s Iron Man 3 premiere in Los Angeles as truth, then it seems we could be seeing the mutant brother and sister known as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Avengers 2. Whedon mentioned that a first draft of the Avengers 2 script has been written and it includes a certain brother-sister act. And as many comic fans know, the most popular brother-sister combo in Avengers lore would be, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
“I’ve done enough shows and movies to be comfortable with that. You do come to a point where we all agree. ‘Okay. Oh, I’ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book; a brother-sister act. They’re in the movie. That’s exciting.’ You know, you lock certain things in.”
One might say though, aren’t they mutants? And wouldn’t that prevent Disney/Marvel from using them in film since Fox has control of the Marvel Mutants currently. Well you would be partially correct. Since they are also Avengers, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are somewhat exempt from that according to Marvel’s President of Production, Kevin Feige.
“It’s a little complicated, but if they [Fox, which holds the X-Men rights] want to use them in the X-Men movie they could, [but] if we want to use them in The Avengers movie, we could.”
So it seems we could be seeing the speedster and hexster (is that a word?), the children of Magneto, in the sequel to the blockbuster Avengers? What do you think about these additions? Now one has to wonder if they will survive past the first draft, unlike Wasp who did not in the first movie. (Source: Screenrant)
