wow, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are on a frenzy lately. Announced late last night is yet another DC television project, Constantine. An adaptation of the John Constantine character, aka Hellblazer. This will make the third project announced in the last month, the second one announced in a week. Are they trying to take some wind from Marvel’s sails, because of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. solid premiere this week? Probably, but that doesn’t matter, this is good for both sides, keeps them on their toes.
Constantine was the focus of the 2005 film of the same name. It has been sold to NBC with penalty and it is written/executive produced by The Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer. Constantine will center on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.
This joins The Flash at the CW and Gotham, a drama centered around Detective Gordon at Fox, which has a series commitment. Now I wonder if the Booster Gold project at the Syfy channel will move forward now. (Source: Deadline)
