This is the time of the year when all the TV networks make their announcements for the 2014–2015 television season. Where they announce cancellations and new additions to their line-ups. Yesterday we got a lot of DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. announcements of series pickups, now it looks like Marvel wants in on that too.
ABC announced that the rumored Agent Carter series has been picked up. It will go straight to series this fall. Actress Hayley Atwell will reprise her role from Captain America: The First Avenger and the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.
The Agent Carter series description is as follows:
Agent Carter follows the story of Peggy Carter (Atwell). It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers.
There is no word on where this will air in the line-up, including if it will play with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or air during its mid-season break. Either way, glad to see this announcement.
Speaking of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., despite low ratings, the series has been picked up for a second season. Hopefully they will change their formula and add more Marvel Universe to the series since that is what many people have wanted from the first episode of season one. (Source: Deadline)
